I paint for myself. I thoroughly enjoy the process. It's inspiring just to be around the materials and possibilities. Simply spending time in my studio puts me in a great head space.  Painting for me is an endless adventure, with no known destination.  Each painting has a beginning and an end, but I rarely know where the end is.  There are rules to follow. Or not.  I get to use my hands.  And I get to leave something behind when I'm gone.

 

Painting has taught me to observe the world through the lens of values, edges, color, composition and light.  Thinking more visually has sharpened my sensitivities and improved my appreciation for the world around me.
